How To Avoid Getting Sick During Rainy Season

how-to-avoid-getting-sick-during-rainy-season

It has been a couple of months since the onset of the rainy season. As this is a yearly occurrence in the country, most of us already anticipate this time of the year. And because we are staying in now more often, some have become complacent to other health risks.

Alongside securing a trusted home insurance in the Philippines for typhoons and floods, we must also face this period in our best condition. It’s important that we shouldn’t disregard other common rainy day illnesses. Here’s how to avoid it:

Ingest clean water and well-cooked meals

Diseases can be contracted if food ingredients aren’t washed properly or dirtied by polluted water. Even if experts say that the coronavirus is not a foodborne pathogen, our food still needs to be cooked well enough. This way, we can reduce the likelihood of us ingesting any kind of virus. Proper nutrition and sanitation must be maintained to ensure every meal is safe to eat.

Take supplements everyday

There is currently no cure for COVID-19 but people with major pre-existing illnesses like diabetes and respiratory issues are at higher risk for its complications. This is why taking supplements like vitamin C, D, and Zinc is recommended to boost the immune system overall. As your daily nutrition may not be enough, practice to seek added immunity from these supplements.

Clean your surroundings

From the rain and flooding, dirty water can accumulate in different areas of your house. According to the United Nations, about 80% of all diseases are caused by contaminated water. Outbreaks are also commonly associated with this.

For prevention, regularly hold a general cleaning session. Clean up containers like basins or pots where insects like dengue mosquitoes or bacteria can possibly thrive.

Get a healthy amount of sleep

Many advise that getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep is ideal. However, the National Sleep Foundation recognizes that this actually varies for each person. To decide how much sleep you really need, consider your current physical and mental state, along with your daily routine. Experiment with reasonable bedtimes of varying durations. See which sleep patterns give the best results, for you to maximize rest and restore bodily functions.

No matter how preoccupied we get with current events, we must remain calm and refrain from being shortsighted to other risks. Follow these tips to get ready for emergencies during typhoons, and acquire homeowners insurance in the Philippines today to get coverage for other potential damages.
